Desert Island Cars Vol. 1: Spacegoat's Top Ten

desert island hot wheels tomica toys
To those who don't go around hot wheels hunting, that's what the sealed cases of hot wheels look like.

Most of us are familiar with the "desert island" concept.  Most of the time, they would be CDs/Albums.  If you are to be stuck on a desert island, which ten CDs would you take with you?

Never mind how scarce the electricity or audio equipment are on most desert islands(lol).  This here is a new mini-series, and the concept here is to come up with your all-time top ten favs.

Last time we did a feature like this, it was fun.  We shared the first TLV casting we bought, what drew us to it, etc.  This time, it's choosing just ten cars from your collection, and why those ten cars.  More challenging, more time consuming.  It can be hard to pick only ten from your collection.  lol  Enough intro.  Let's start thing off with my collector brother from another mother:

Jarrod aka Spacegoat from Australia

lv-n89c

tlv bluebird super silhouette autobacs

TLV AutoBacs Bluebird Silhouette

Silhouette's I've always considered to be the "Holy Grail" of the TLV line. Lucky for me I was able to snag this one for a great price when it came up for backorder on AmiAmi a couple of years back. It didn't disappoint, details are second to none

tlv crazy ken's isuzu bellett

TLV Crazy Ken Isuzu Bellett

If this was like a dream car top ten or something then a Isuzu Bellett would be in my list, something about those little cars that has always been hugely appealing. This TLV is perfection to me, retro JDM racer goodness.

tlv transporter honda express

TLV Hino "Honda Express" Transporter

Er, it's pretty damn awesome in every way and it's a load of fun to take pictures with. Enough said really.

matchbox holden ford v8 supercars

Matchbox Holden and Ford V8 Supercars. The two oldest in the my top ten, I've had both for what must be almost twenty years. They're just damn perfect. Make me wish that MBX did more V8 supercar releases but sadly there were only ever three. :(

matchbox ruff trek 7-up

Matchbox Ruff Trek

I've got four Ruff trek utes in the collection but this is by far my favourite. I mean just look at that 7-Up livery. So sweet.

kyosho carp streamer

Kyosho Nissan R92CP "Carp Streamer"

I don't have many Kyosho's in my collection (probably should work on that) but this one is easily the best. Details are unbelievably good.

hot wheels falcon xd 2011 convention

Hot Wheels XB Falcon "Die Cast Expo 2011" edition

 Who doesn't like flames?

tlv australian rallye

TLV Toyopet Crown

Actually this is probably a close second to the Silhouette for me. Everything about it is just incredibly well done.

510 vintage racing hot wheels

Hot Wheels Vintage Racing Datsun 510

Classic BRE livery, real riders. What's not to love about this?

Minicar Pics 1/64:  Love that Matchbox Ruff Trek & the outdoor shot.  Totally agree with the dream car comment on the Isuzu Bellett, too.  Super neat car!

Check out his tweets, and his latest cars on GTPlanet.

  1. Dunno how in the heck you would be able to carry such a giant car transporter to a deserted island, even if it is a 1/64 (yeah right, haha)-size model. Still, it must be worth it, even with all the hassle, haha!

Joke aside, a fine list indeed, a curious blend of Aussie metal and the finest JDM classic cars you can buy. I wholeheartedly agree with the inclusion of the Super Silhouette and the Carp Streamer, love the vintage 7-Up livery in that Ruff Trek, and the BRE... well, Datsawesome (oh lord, that pun was atrocious)!

    1. I'm certain the Transporter comes from his tactical thinking. My guess is that he plans on making a survival knife out of the trailer part. Chin spoiler on the Bluebird would make a nice fire starter? lol

    2. Haha, sounds like a legit idea! But what would Jarrod use to make the sparks? The Falcon? Since that has flames on it, I bet it can make real ones too, haha...

    1. Thank you for putting it together. Awesome "10" picks to lead us off!

No GreenLight in there, but had that Chevy Chase stationwagon made it in time, what were the odds that one would have made your list?

  3. That's a tough question. lol It might have made it but looking at the list again, it's hard to pick what model would have missed out to make way for it.
