Sorry. Another 1/18: Ignition Model IG2223 Datsun Bluebird (510) Wagon Light Blue With Surfboard

I don't typically buy 1/18 scale models, but OMG, lowered 510 wagon with surfboard has that Toriyama Akira goodness you just can't resist....

It took approximately 8 days for it to arrive from Hong Kong.  So fast.

This is my first IG 1/18 scale, also my first IG vintage car model.  While I have some 1/64 cars from IG, they are all newer vehicles like R35, RX-7, etc.  I do have Hakosuka I already paid for at amiami, but shipping from Japan's still very strained, and despite their efforts, it's been taking them months to get cars over to me.

I've always admired IG's vintage JDM cars & they certainly didn't disappoint!  :)

GreenLight 1/18 Brian's 1974 Ford Escort RS2000 Mk1

hot wheels fast & furious ford escort

So was the car in the movie 1970 RS1600, or 1974 RS2000?  I don't really care, I'm ignorant on the subject.  lol

I've been a fan of the Fast & the Furious since the first one.  When the first one came out, I was a fan of the ricer trend, saw the film as soon as it came out.  Lot of us been fans of the cast from the first Fast & Furious since.  For me, especially of Paul Walker.  Later on, it was discovered that this down-to-earth actor was a gearhead, also a fan of Skylines.  Sounded like someone we could relate to.

By 2013, I saw most new films on either Blu-ray or Netflix.  I didn't start paying attention to Fast &Furious 6, or this poster until right around the time he passed away.  I don't think the Blu-ray was even out yet.

This movie poster is one of my favorites, all-time(I actually bought one).  I'm a fan of cars like the old Alfa Romeo Giulia, Datsun 510/Bluebird, BMW 2002, etc.  Mark I Escort in the poster reminded me of those cars.  After Paul Walker died, I looked at the poster closely & while I loved it, I also thought it was kinda odd...

It could be my Beatles influence(google Sgt. Peppers album cover conspiracy sometime lol), but I see Paul Walker turned around & looking back.  "All roads lead to this", when I saw that, I was thinking "We all die in the end".  Also the mentions of the Memorial Day at the bottom corner.

Don't worry, I'm not crazy.  It's just something I observed & thought it was lot of coincidences.

So after the longest-winded intro ever, here is the very underwhelming 1/18 scale F&F 6  Ford Escort from GreenLight.

I think I got this for $55 + shipping.  I have one other GreenLight in 1/18 scale, and while the theme is kinda exciting, it was the most unimpressive 1/18 diecast ever.  This Fast & the Furious Mk1 Escort was no different.  It looks well detailed as lot of 1/43 scale cars I've seen, if not worse.  I think GreenLight is asking about $20 too much for the level of quality.  $30, I'd recommend it.  $40 MSRP.....  I still may.  At least nothing was broken or missing on this one, so I will get them that.

I thought little wheelie would be fitting for this little guy.  :D

Oops! I did it again, not 1/64: AUTOart 1/18 1991 Le Mans Winner Mazda 787B

I stick with 1/64 scale diecasts, but once in a great while, something that comes along that I have to have, and generally, scale would be 1/18.

With this purchase, it had some influence by way of national pride.  To date, it's the only Japanese car ever to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  Initially, livery didn't do it for me at all.  Last decade or more, it's been one of my favorites.  Also doesn't hurt that it happens to be one of the best screamers around.  Very distinctive, and uber exciting sound.  Pics:

Damaged mirror on the right side.  Not impressed with AUTOart quality control right now.  I also had their Ford GT missing a shifter last year.  :(

I don't think I've done 1/64-1/18 combo shot since this Lotus Honda 99T?  Very glad to be able to pair these two up.  Both models are very well made.  :)

Forgive me - Not 1/64: AUTOart 1/18 Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car(Carbon Fiber) & Race Car(white)

I only collect 1/64 scaled cars.....  but that doesn't mean I don't buy other scale diecast cars, occasionally.  I used to be a big Gran Turismo fan, and this is one of the very few 1/18 scale cars I long desired.  :D  I recently nearly bought the original release(must be getting close to ten years old now) of the carbon fiber version for around $300, but I'm glad I didn't.  AUTOart actually re-released these cars this year, and while it wasn't cheap, for the price of what would have cost me for one, I was able to buy both the carbon fiber test car & the white race car version.

First one from AmiAmi actually was actually missing the gear shifter part, so I had to ship that one all the way back to Japan for refund, then buy a replacement on eBay.  Carbon fiber one w/white background is the one with the missing shifter.  lol

I apologize for this 1/18 interruption!
