First things first; WTF is Grachan/グラチャン? According to Wikipedia, it's short for "Grand Champion". The name comes from Fuji Grand Champion Series. Apparently, there were many 暴走族(bosozoku) attending these races. Bosozoku are these bad-boy gang types cruising around, or racing around illegally modified cars & motorcycles. I don't know if it's still a "thing" over there.
I bought a whole case because I'm really into these cars. OK, no. It was the only way I could preorder them from amiami. Six models available & there are two different colors available for every one of those models. I doubt it, but I sure hope there aren't any duplicates. lol
I think they call these "blind" boxes? When I was a kid in Japan, they were often called "kuji", which is a lottery. Basically, you don't know which car is in the box. I wished for Kenmeri, and naturally, I got this red car.
I didn't even recognize it, but I guess it's a Nissan Leopard. While I was bit taken by what came out of the box, it grew on me. Fast. Good reason for this:
- After already preordering, I read that these had plastic bodies. I've bought two boxes of F-Toys plastic body cars before(never again), but I was glad to see that the info was wrong. These are diecast cars.
- Clean & neat detailing. Love the paint, though I've spotted one tiny imperfection so far. Overall, very nice finish.
- Resin/plastic lenses, both front & rear. Very cleanly executed.
- Very attractive casting! As any collectors know, designing casting's art. As I'm from Japan, I knew who Aoshima was(plastic model maker), but I wasn't at all familiar with their toy cars. It's only the first car from the case, but I'm pretty impressed so far. Good start. :)
It features lots of detail work as you can see. Cleanly executed, too. I'm a fan.
