Greenlight 2008 Car D'Lane Yenko Chevelle by Chevrolet

I also found this on the Toy Peddler

Greenlight 2008 Car D'Lane Yenko Chevelle by Chevrolet

It's said to have been produced in limited numbers, but for the life of me, I could not find this classified top-secret number.  I do know that mine is number:

Greenlight Car D'Lane Yenko Chevelle Chevrolet

According to the listing it was sold at the downtown classic car cruiser & show, sponsored by the City of Coeur d'Alene(I guess in 2008).  I had to have it, because I rarely see Greenlight cars with white lettered tires.

Just awesome.

Hot Wheels Oil Can / 100% Shell "Pump Services" VW Microbus

High Test Series 2 of 4, 1 of 15,000

I don't think there are many diecast fans, or minicar fans who doesn't have a soft spot for Hot Wheels.  Sure, their mainline castings are cool..... and for a buck!  You can't beat cool diecast car for one dollar, you just can't.  Yet, for me, store-bought Hot Wheels from local stores will not satisfy.  At least not completely, not even close.  I am a Real Riders fanboy, especially of the RLC(Red Line Club) releases, also the premium cars never released in stores, or you could never find one anyway due to their popularity, or poor distribution.  Those "Hot Wheels" I generally can only find online, they are the hot wheel cars that captivate me.

I believe I got this one on the Toy Peddler?  Toy Peddler is a toy car(mainly 1/64) classified site I couldn't recommend highly enough.  Most of the sellers are just wonderful, and compared to eBay, it has more collector-to-collector atmosphere & prices are generally lower than eBay, at least from my experience.  Don't get me wrong, I love both sites to death!  My Toy Peddler listings(shameless, I know).

Back on topic.  I free this Shell Volkswagen bus from the cool, but bulky oil can shaped packaging, and I'm pretty impressed.  Great "Shell" scheme, which looks great with my Tomicarama Shell gas station diorama background, but I had no idea it did this:

Game.  Over.

1956 "Firestone" Ford F-100 by Greenlight

From the very 'overseas' Land Cruiser pickup truck in the previous post to very American Ford F-100 truck by one of my favorites, Greenlight.  For me, Greenlight cars are found in two places & two places only:

  1. Toys R Us
  2. Internet
So sad.

Greenlight is pretty mainstream in the U.S., but it's a interesting brand at the same time.  Selection of vehicle's second to none, but they are almost all American, I guess similarly to M2 Machines.  If I were to get picky, their lone JDM selection drives me crazy to this day:  Civic Si Coupe.  WTF.

Anyway, back to the F-100.  I have a soft spot for old Ford F-1 & F-100 trucks, and while the M2's are hard to beat when it comes to these trucks, I think Greenlight more than held its own here.  Perhaps much cleaner execution than the M2 Machines.

Extra credit for the Firestone theme!

1/71 Scale Tomica No. 103 Toyota Land Cruiser(70-Series)

Tomica is not a very popular brand in the U.S.  While that has much to do with non-existent marketing & high price, even the vehicle castings themselves are often more oriented toward Asian markets, especially Japan.  Let's not even get started on the common stigma attached with the "mainline" Tomicas, like those sometimes despised rims.

Still, there are select Tomicas which may appeal to Hot Wheels/diecasts/minicar fans in America.  At least for me, such a Tomica is the 70-Series Land Cruiser.

If you are a fan of import trucks, it is impossible not to like this old school Toyota.  This rugged "work truck" Land Cruiser came out in the mid-80's, and is still being built to this day.  However, apparently, Toyota USA will have nothing to do with it.  Once legendary "Land Cruiser" name now belongs to the quality built, but obscure Range Rover wannabe that nobody owns, at least in the States.
Sorry.  Bit harsh(but all true).  *ahem*  Back to the Tomica.  As you can see, headache rack was not hollowed out, which takes lot away from what is otherwise a very cool little mainline casting.  Even the wheels are pretty decent on this one!

Hot Wheels '90 Honda Civic EF & Volkswagen Caddy(Rabbit Pickup?)

I learn on the internet that Hot Wheels have released the Datsun 510 Bluebird wagon mainlines, in two different colors.  I don't know if it's the collectors, scalpers, or just poor distribution, but I've never seen one in real life!  Anywho, it's not all bad.  When I ran into these cars at my local Walmart, 510 was no longer on my mind.

It's a "1990", but might as well be "late-80's" to me, and I am a sucker for the 80's.  Especially the late-80's.

I loved this casting when it first came out(red).  Teal one was 'meh', but this JDM hot hatch in black & red sure pulled me back in.  I hope the Real Riders version is headed our way soon.

As cool as the Civic is, it's hard to beat the VW charm of the Caddy.  Great job with the tampos.

Dear Mattel:  Real Riders on this one as well.  PLEASE.
