I announced my decision to quit collecting minicars in my last post. It's weird to see Toys R Us calling it quits around the same time, though their decision was a forced one. This Toys R Us is on the way home from work for me, so last few years collecting, I swung by there numerous times. I feel bad for the employees there.
I'm kinda kicking myself for not taking the pictures of it, but there was big "help wanted" sign as you entered the store? Most employees probably already left & they need people short term to close the place out maybe. :(
As I approach the hot wheels aisle, I see "up to" 30% off. Hot Wheels, along with other diecasts were 10% off. If I was still collecting, I might have picked up something, but 10% usually don't get me to bite on anything, unless it was something I planned on buying anyways.
Hot Wheels were little bit bare. Plenty of Majorette & some Matchbox(even those real riders stuff). GreenLight were almost all gone. I also checked video games, but consoles were all gone. I was interested in Nintendo Switch for my nephews, but I think video games were only 5% off.
I hear KB Toys might make a comeback? When we first moved to the U.S. in 1987, KB Toys were the sh*t. While I'm sorry to see Toys R Us go(at least inside the U.S.), I'd love to see a return of the KB Toys. :)
This was such a sad day for all toy lovers out there. I surprised they didn't have a more discounted price on the hot wheels. I hope they will make a return soon. Have a great day.

I was surprised, too. Only other closure sale I remember checking out was the Circuit City store in the area, and those were modest discount also. I've yet to see KB Toys comeback. I see Toys R Us has a website & two locations on the store locators, but when I clicked on one of the Jada diecasts, it has link to Target.... I guess we'll have to wait some more for those guys to make a proper comeback.
DeleteThank you for reading, Greg. Have a great Friday & the weekend!
