I'm not sure of the original MSRP on these Modern Classics cars, but they can be pretty rare & spendy in the secondary market these days. I personally love the extra detailing Mattel gave these cars, cool wheels, and also the killer paint job.

Hot Wheels Modern Classics '92 Ford Mustang
This is my first Modern Classics. I had never seen cars from this series before, but when I saw the extra detailing, even for $9, I decided to grab one. It was a nice buy.
Fox body kinda grows on you. I used to think they were ugly.

Hot Wheels RLC - Cars of the Decade 80's - $uper Treasure Hunt - Modern Classics '83 Chevy Silverado Part II: Lowrider
Part I was the lifted 4x4 Silverados. I like them. I like them, but I like the lowriders better. First time this casting caught my attention was this RLC release.
This was the most expensive hot wheels I had ever purchased at the time. $85 shipped(carded). This is one of the few hot wheels/minicars that feels precious in your hands though. Seriously, it sounds really weird, but it's jewel-like.[/nerd] Mine is #'d 1,900 of 3,000.
Next up is the recent Super Treasure Hunt/$TH Silverado:
Lastly, the only premium Silverado I ever found locally. From the 80's of the "Decades" series:
Used to sell for I think two bucks in stores? It's closer to $40 now. Really digging the "Chevrolet" on the tailgate.
Edit: Just added this to my collection - Modern Classics '83 Silverado

Hot Wheels Modern Classics: '83 Silverado
Another classic Chevy Silverado. Like with most classic hot wheels Silverados, Modern Classics can go for lot of money....... unless you are willing to settle for loose one with a dented front windshield. ;)
You could barely tell that little blemish on the windshield. This baby was $35, shipped.

Hot Wheels Modern Classics 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition "Custom Otto"
Generally not a fan of "fantasy" casting(at least I think it is), but I like this one alright. It's also part of the Modern Classics line, which I am a fan of.

Hot Wheels RLC Car Culture Premium Boxed Set
This was the final straw. My enthusiasm for this hobby's been low for while. TLV with their overpricing, GreenLight with high marketing/dodgy quality, etc., etc. It just wore me out. After spending over an hour trying to order this car from RLC website, fighting timeouts & glitches, only to witness it sellout & having to pay $100 for a set on eBay, it was time to call it quits. I'm not sorry, it was fun while it lasted.
My exit from minicar collecting will be gradual, because I still have so many cars to catalog & so much preorders left pending. lol Let us get back to the cars:
Here's the car on the cover. Car that everybody wants. Blue BRE Datsun Bluebird/510. I bought the set just to get this car.
More on the 510 later. Redliners Mercury Comet Cyclone:
Cars & Donuts Copo Camaro:
Modern Classics Mustang SVO:
I really like this one. If I was still collecting, I'd have kept it. Air Cooled VW Fastback:
Without further adieu: Da Blue BRE Datsun Bluebird 510...
What a beauty. True RLC quality paint/tampo work. :)
