One of the best looking, if not the best mesh wheels I've seen in 1/64, but it still doesn't look quite right.  I think it's the 3D shape that's hard to achieve, because the mesh looks flat?  It's not the same style rims, but Enif has impressed me before.

Frigging amazing.  Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming:

  1. I just got my gun metallic few days ago, and it’s awesome! Some are saying this is the best 1/64 casting of all time. Based on your vast collection, would you go as far as to say that?

    1. I think it's one of those Yes & No. One certainly could make a strong argument as to why this is the all-time best, based on casting, styling, and also in execution.

However, there are so many different things 1/64 collectors look for in minicars. Half the collectors may not even warm up to it simply based on the base vehicle model(R35 GT-R). It's certainly stylish in my opinion, but again, for lot of people, "JDM" is actually a turnoff. Execution in micro details & overall quality may be a "ten" to the eyes of collectors like you & me, but Hot Wheels/Matchbox collectors couldn't care less about that kind of stuff, for various reasons.

I realize this is a cop out, but it's a yes & no for me. :D

    2. Yeah, I guess I can see your point. While it’s unbeatable in terms of detail and execution, it’s kind of missing that umph factor that would make it special to many collectors. It’s not innovative nor is it a game changer (in terms of how other brands will approach modelling new castings in the future), in fact, it’s riding on the tides of the current JDM trend. But for what it is, it’s absolutely perfect.

    3. I couldn't have said it any better.

Now, had their first casting been clean classic lowered Kenmeri, my fanboyism would've kicked in & assured everyone it was the best! The best! lol
