Car is beat to hell, but it's one of the most valuable toy car I have in my collection, if not the most valuable. First, the pics:
Like any young Japanese boys, I used to have many Tomicas as a toddler. Unfortunately, none of my childhood toys survived.... but there were handful of exceptions. It was given to me by my late grandpa, it stayed at grandparents', so it survived. Several years ago, my youngest brother brought it back from Japan after a visit, along with couple other Playart & Tomica cars.
This one's my favorite though. Grandpa used to own a local grocery store, and it seems that he labeled the car in Japanese, on a price tag. It reads "Lamborghini Miura" in his handwriting. Priceless! :)

It's a real shame that the Miura looks so beat up, but I seem to think that even beat up Miuras look simply gorgeous... Perhaps it's impossible to knock the pretty out of a Miura after all, haha. Still, even in its shoddy condition, being a classic Japanese-made toy must give the Miura quite the value... Shame it isn't yellow, however, that would make the car both look better and be worth more.

According to Wikipedia, Playart was actually from Hong Kong.

DeleteOf course, because you know that its condition was not given by anyone else but yourself. It's a car that grew with you, and so far has not left your side. It's cool when you have memories which can relate to the cars you own, right? ;)
Because it was at grandparents' who lived very far away, I literally recall seeing it like two times. It's too long ago. :P It didn't really grow with me, or stay by my side(I hadn't seen it in at least over three decades) for that reason. Sorry. lol
Delete*ahem* Still, that's the reason why it survived, and I'm sure those paint chips came from not just me, but that's okay. Still my car. :D
Haha, ok, so it's not quite a fairy tale, but it's still a happy one nonetheless. At least it shows that your grandparents didn't just toss the car into the garbage bin and called it a day, and that's what matters.

No, garbage bin would be what a6m5's mother would do all of his Tomicas, when a6m5 was super young boy. It's something that stays with you for a long time.... *tear*
DeleteOuch, that hit me right in the feels, man... Losing Tomicas shouldn't really happen if you can prevent that from happening. Some things really sting...
