Before you say that this is the ugliest taxi cab you've ever seen, let me explain:

  1. It's a real life cab featuring Hanshin Tigers livery.
  2. Hanshin Tigers is a Japanese baseball team from Osaka.  My childhood favorite team.
God bless amiami.  They've had this car on backorder for sometime.  While I balked on it for probably something like a year(see what I did there? lol), I was finally able to add it on my November order.  Since I reside in the U.S., I can't get myself to fork over $100 or whatever for the expensive Tigers baseball cap, which would just make the locals here go "WTF?" at me anyway, I am kinda pleased to own something with the logo from the team, especially in the form of collectible I'm big into.  I get it, cool story bro.  Pics:

Little info-guide on Hanshin Koshien Station.  Also picture of the station as the backdrop.  Nice touch.

TLV-like realism.  I have couple more Gulliver64 in my collection.  Impressive cars.  Go Tigers!

  1. I personally don't think it's all that ugly, there are sports out there with far worse color combinations to put in a car. After all, that's what SuperLeague Formula was all about (in case you don't know, that was a single-seater competition using the old A1-GP Lola chassis, which had teams modeled after European soccer teams)...

When you add in Gulliver's very impressive quality feel and a very nice packaging, it's more than worth the price of admission. Beats having a simple Hanshin Tigers hat in my book, haha. And I know of a professional wrestler from Osaka who once wore an outfit patterned after the team's colors, so I know something about the Tigers alright...

  2. That would be the coolest wrestler in my book. lol

Yeah, this taxi isn't horrible. Other Gulliver taxis look nicer though, at least in my opinion.

    2. Haha, yes, I can see why would you say that, Minicar. Sadly, the wrestler himself, Atsushi Maruyama who was formerly known as Tigers Mask (no, it's not Tiger Mask, that's a whole different set of personas haha), no longer uses that gimmick and is just a plain old wrestler these days. Still, he must've earned some bonus points in your book just by paying hommage to the Hanshin Tigers, haha.

And I've had a quick look at the other Crown taxis that Gulliver did, and they do look nicer. The Tigers cab is great as a merchandising piece, but the non-Tigers cabs have better detailing...

    3. Bertrand - Thank you! As you already know, because you own one; Hard to go wrong with these, as they are really neat & unique.

Hugo - Dude, I don't follow wrestling(sorry), but when I was a kid, Tiger Mask was my favorite wrestler! Not the same guy obviously, as my Tiger Mask's from the 80's. lol

    4. Haha, don't worry, I wasn't expecting you to follow modern puroresu references. After all, your favorite wrestler was the original Tiger Mask, who was a great wrestler for sure but his time was a long time ago indeed... I only found out about the glory times of Tiger Mask I and Antonio Inoki once I searched more about the world of Japanese wrestling, really. And you could say that I'm still a fan of it all...

    5. Actually, now that I think of it,I think the original Tiger Mask was from back even earlier than that? I think I read a manga about him once. You know "process". I'm impressed!

    6. "proresu", not "process". text correction on my phone.

    7. Was he? I think his career started in the early 80's, not much older than that... His character was based off a manga, yes, I can definitely remember that about him.
And well, I do know "puroresu" rather well; even with its current American influences, my favorite federation is Shin Nihon Puroresu. Or as it is known in English, New Japan Pro Wrestling... ;)

    8. I had to look it up, but you are right about the Tiger Mask; I thought the old manga was based on a wrestler, but it's actually the other way around. lol
