We all had "dream cars" during our childhood. The very first Supra was one of the most prominent one for me, if not my #1 childhood dream car.
To lot of people, this Supra was not the first gen. model. However, in Japan, it was. Before Supra, the JDM car was called Celica XX('Double X'). I adored the car as a young boy, and I adored its name. When this new "XX" came out, it looked BEAUTIFUL & it was called............. huh? Supra to this Non-English speaking kid sounded like a mix between a Soup & Tempura. Both delicious, but WTF.
It wasn't until couple years later after moving to the U.S. I became really fond of this car. I couldn't help it after reading all the American car magazines I could get my hands on, like Road & Track and Car & Driver(talk about car porn lol).
First, the white undercover Supra from the hit cop tv show Taiyo ni Hoero:
It looks good, but I think for me, couple of things I didn't like were: 1) Price is getting up there. 2) While they are of quality, level of detail on these wheels are pathetic for cars costing close to, or over $20. 3) Side mirrors are huge. Think small truck mirrors.
Moving on to the red. Both of these cars come with chin spoilers you can glue on.
While I have never bothered with any glue-on parts sometimes provided by TLV, I thought this looked easy enough, I'll get my superglue out & give it a shot.
So one of the cars I idolized joins the TLV lineup. When I first heard the news, I was ecstatic. $30 later for two of them(thank you AmiAmi), while I'm still happy to have two quality 1/64 scale Supras, I'm nowhere near as excited about it as when I first heard the news. It's not a 'miss' or a dud, per se. Just in my opinion, and maybe it's not fair of me, but I do set the bar higher for TLV, which says a lot about their crew & production. And to be fair, casting is fantastic. Precision & quality of small details are above what I've seen from the Kyoshos I own(costs more too though lol).
